For JP

Because JP is the only one that really ever truly appreciated going running with me, I'm posting these pictures of my running route in the city of Dunedin. I really miss that dog, with his soulful brown eyes and his twitchy temperament. I miss him more than Gels for example. Imagine that: missing a dog more than my own sister.

By the way mom; when is the christmas letter coming out this year?
(Thats right suckers out of the country, not out of the game - luckily mom cant read this because the font is too small for her eye sight, so whos feeling lucky for first mention in the letter?)

Starting with a quick dash down the main road and then left into a park. where i usually see the parakeets. JP would love them, Alec and Jules have no appreciation for birds (feathered, or otherwise in Jules' case)
Run along the Leith River for quite a long time

Into the forest and over the river crossing if you want. depends on how much rain there has been. usually a lot, so usually no crossing. I remember some other flooded river crossings (Mom, Gels the berg; Agnes the ice river (twice) in sweden - we could have skated over if it had been any colder). If only JP was there. Sandra and Roger would never manage it, neither would Sarah and anyway shes only interested boys and her car these days. wouldnt even bother mentioning them if i had to relay any kind of annual christmas communication of any sort

This is the local waterfall, I like to wash my hair in there ala herbal essence. just kidding you know i stopped washing and im not going back - never known such bounce in my hair since i stopped. dont even need a cycle helmet anymore, if you dropped me on my head id pop right back up.

The typical forest paths - city what city?
Mike wouldnt appreciate it - seeing as hes only interested in rugby these days

Up the top of the hill is Ross Reservoir. Let me tell you the hill is a bugger of a walk and b**** of a run. but its worth it.

I know what youre all thinking, it must really suck living in city. It sure does, it sure does...

I'll be posting JP his little christmas gift soon, I hope it makes it in time. You should probably do your christmas letter too mom. postage can be terrible at this time of year. Incidentally whats everybody else getting JP for christmas?

JP asked me to relay his deepest love. He pricks his ears every time Chris starts the Landy (2ce a week) He loves this post and is now deeply disappointed that 1. he isn't with you and 2. in me, his humble mistress who cannot attain to walks like these - however we do still go out in the pre-dawn dark which is still pretty good to get at the smells first. Oh, by the way, Mom could read the small print. She has had to read so much small print in the past that her eyes are accustomed to not only small print, but also the hidden meaning within.

He promises you a wonderful Christmas present and has checked on last posting date already - he is also saving all his meagre pocket money for YOUR present. No one else takes him for a walk any more. Sarah is too 'busy' , Chris always says he has 'jobs' - but Mom, bless her, waddles along twice a day for an hour each time...she might get a kiss from J at Christmas, for effort anyway.

Stuff you too doug! Had planned a lovely birthday and christmas present for you but you can just settle with the one from good old wonderful jp...also - next time you want some medical advice, you can go ask the dog with the soulful eyes.

And if I dont make the christmas letter more than you with the marriage and the new dog, then I might just have to have a baby next year to seal the bloody deal..although if I remember correctly, that didnt help Alec and Jules.

HOpe your helmethair is working out alright for you - trailing fruitflys and bees yet?

well i guess there is nothing quite like christmas to unite a family, or indeed in this case, the christmas letter.
I am often amused (or is that bemused) at the naivety of the younger generation.
In their quest for fame, they will do anything to get 1st mention in the Christmas letter which our mother (actually, I wonder if now is a good time to tell them the truth about their adoption) religiously compiles each year.
I wonder if Dave & Gels have considered the coincidence in the timing of their wedding album - the postal strike is such a devil!
As for Doug, so far away but not out of reach. I had a call from the IRS the other day - not sure what they were on about, but it had something to do with a landy, or was that lady - anyway, ime sure Agnes would be horrified to hear of his kiwi girlfriend.
As for JP (or more affectionately known as Japes - such a lovely dog) well, there might be more than one way to skin a cat, and lots more for a dog. i was reading an interesting article on 99 ways to loose your dog, shocking stuff, really the trauma these owners go through is unbearable - just to think of it....I mean, imagine Japes and Oscar going missing in one year, it would be devastating.
Anyway, I really hope you all have a wonderful Christmas full of joy and peace and happiness
