Actually, talking about testicals - thousands of years of evolution have shaped mammalian creatures, and this device has shaped a fine balance between essential and excess in order for continued survival. And arguably the most important resource for continued existance is the reproductive system. This magical number is 2 (forget that hitch hikers guide 42 nonsense). One, and one for reserve. Youde think they might have put them in different places at least though. at least one on the back and one on the front or something.
Apologies for the number of spelingg erorrs in teh last blogg, had one of those days when the letters were playing musical chairs on my keyboard. On the topic of the last blog I can offer some suggestion for Agnes' expression in the last photo and it runs something along the lines of a sensitive stomach, two (exhuberent) helpings of curry for supper the night before, and a sudden calculation of distance from facilities. Thats all im going to say. Nothing to worry about eh Mike? just find a dock plant. In case you forgot
The main thing to note in life right now is that it has improved exponentially since Agnes arrived. Even the weather has improved. and the birds are singing.... crazy
Have finally started sampling for my PhD. Its great to get some data. and thanks to Agnes and her new camera I am going to put some photos up now.....
A fire has been raging for a couple of days outside Dunedin giving a bit of an Armageddonish feel to the light (orange/sunset glow during the middle of the day) Its dry as tinder here and this got hold of the forestry. This is on the way to my sample site - luckily didnt effect access.
Heres the sampling procedure. its a very simple concept. electrocute the water, catch the fish. It sounds easy, but like most things theres a bit more too it than that

Yesterday I went mountain biking at a place called Bethunes gulley. Im not sure who bethune is, but im quite familiar with his gulley now. I went over the handlebars 3 times, and broke the back wheel of the bike. A few bruises but managed not to break myself, luckily I mostly landed on my jaw, oh... i mean, oops.... er
how is the soup boet?
By the way - Gels, have been working on that little christmas project of ours for the Turners, and Im quietly pleased with the results so far. I quietly chortle as I write this.
Sandra - Roger - Birmingham - Caravan and camping - show? something amiss there surely. at least you never dragged sarah and chris along - that counts as abuse on several counts (1) taking them to birmingham, (2) taking them to the camping and caravaning show (3) being old and parental around Sarah and treading all over her coolness, ahahahahha wait its too much. Sarah - cool... thats as oxymoronic as say,... Birmingham and camping. I have an idea for a blog entry for your caravan blog Jordans. "Dorset to Otago- 18800 kilometeres of experience towing our caravan." Now that I'll follow! And so will everyone - its impossible to overtake you bloody caravaners on the roads. Or what about "Afganistan: one families mission to bring peace humility, equality and caravaning supplies to Kabul"
speaking of cool. if you want to have a look at my research group go to this link...
well its cool to some people. its cooler than you sarah anyway, and what would you know. It is cool isnt it. Mom?
By the way considerable interest in my picture of OBL on the header. 2 comments in fact! thats almost as many as the infamous christmas letter blog of 2009 (which remains my record with an astonishing 4 comments - 3 of them from seperate people).
There runs the Taieri gorge rail train, which takes people richer than myself and Agnes from Dunedin to central Otago along the rail link - established because of the gold mining (as part of my sampling I measure the b-axis of 100 pebbles in the stream site, and I feel confident that one day i will stick in my hand and pull out a nugget of gold. In any case it seems as realistic as winning funding from any agency)

Stay away from the light Agnes, STAY AWAY FROM THE LIGHT.

Your research group -yep, that's cool - I see it seems to be quite a family affair starting with father and ending with son and the rest of you including the mummy in between. By the blurbs and by your blogs I would say your are definitely the most eccentric. And now you've had the comments on ObL please could you put someone nicer on the eye there - Johnny Depp perhaps...
what's cool, is that you have to ask your mum whats cool...
Well look forward to the next micky take. I have to admit what had Agnes seen. Remember it is not ALWAYS wise to follow in your older brothers tricks!
