1968 is an interesting year, you know. JFK is assinated, the Vietnam war is in full swing, the Beetles are in full Swing, Marien Ngouabi assumes presidency of the Republic of the Congo, Martin Luther King Jr is assasinated. And amongst all this assasination and psychedelia who should pop along but little old Sandra. You didnt stay little too long, but you have been succussful at the old bit.
The uk is supposed to reduce its CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050. Its already falling behind. And I know why. Those who have wondered around Bournemouth on a grey day might have figured it out too. For those who havent, I'll tell you what it is:
It all you oldies lighting candles on your birthday cakes.
Look at this:
Its frightening - look at all those contributors. Residential, Industry, Road transport - thats over 150 million tons of Carbon per year! This is what they call the "UK emissions 'cake'".And then you go and stick your 42 candles all over our emissions cake - is it any wonder copenhagen was a failure. How many carbon credits are we going to have to buy for you this year Sanj? You can kiss those book vouchers goodbye. Im sending you carbon vouchers and a recycled card. Like those elephant dung cards you can get in Africa (the country Africa). We dont have elephants here in NZ, so I did the next best thing. In any case I'm practically on a vegetarian diet already. Took a bit of trial and error, but I just about nailed the grass : other material ratio for perfect card making. Eating all that grass cleaned me like a whistle too.
Im not sure how in the heck they get their dung cards odour free, but the postal service is appalling from NZ so I think the sting should be out of the smell by the time it reaches you. I did a little watercolour on the front too - hope you like it.
By the way do warn me before you light the candels - the smoke alarm in my kitchen is quite sensitive.
And one other thing - So much great music of the year 1968 Sanj: Stones, Beetles, Louis Amstrong. Otis Redding... so why'd you choose this one as your Mantra?
Happy Birthday
